Christmas cards I made for this year:
Can't remember the cardstock I used;
this first card: snowflake embossing folder; cardinal cut from 50 states using the cricut

this card was a total "case" from Archivers:
copic markers-red; green; gold stickles; gold leafing pen;
cuttlebug & die; stamps from Archivers

this card is almost a repeat of # 1- "Glory to God..." stamp is from C.T.M.H.

this shaker card is from a class that Tammy at Toyrifix taught: sooo much fun!!!!

"Merry Christmas" stamp from C.T.M.H. ; wreath.birds.bow cut
using cricut & Martha Stewart seasonal cake cart.

Believe & Santa stamp I think came from Archivers

this was soooooo much fun to make: everything belongs to Tim Holtz...
the background is a stamp with matching embossing folder- so cool!!!
I used Distress stains to color the stamp. I forgot the "red berries"
on my holly on the lamp post, but still like the way it turned out.

I'm going to a crop on Sat. & had to make up a card for a makeN take to teach some ladies how to quill - this is what I came up with- hope they will like it
card cut out & tree useing C.T.M.H. Art Philosophy; retired stamps from C.T.M.H.( one of my favorites); red & black ink pads;
Pumice Stone Distress ink pad; white puffy paint; & of course I quilled the red bird...

This is a tag card that I made for my f-i-l's birthday, hope he will like it. Again I used the CTMH Art Philosophy cart. to cut this out.
Tim Holtz stamps , embossing folder & Distress Stains ( Barn Red,Forest Green,Wild Honey, & Tea Die)

the card stocks used on both cards was some I had laying around here & no idea where or from who.

I was chatting with a good friend of mine & told her that I needed to make a few cards for some other friends of mine, but
I just didn't feel like it. Well, she told me to get off FaceBook - get busy & meet her back on FaceBook in a few hours to
post my cards.

Well...........

I got a little side tracked....

BUT.....

I did get a few simple cards done & loaded.
I have had the Cricut Wild Card cartridge for way over a year & never really "played" with it, so thought now was as good a time as any to try it out.....and... (wowzers- you can even make the envelopes to match the cards. I didn't take a picture of that, but this first cards envelope is cute)..... thinking I will use it more....

I went to TroyOh. the first wk. in Aug to visit a good friend of mine. While there another good friend of ours came,
and showed us how to create a triangle card - diorama card & a stair-step card. All 3 were fun to do & make. I forgot to take a picture of the triangle card.
I have made a diorama card before, but the one Hewitt showed us was a lot more fun & seemed to be easier for me to make. Here is the "outside":

Oh my, where has summer gone??? It's almost over with the days getting shorter & cooler mornings - I sure can smell fall around the corner. School will be starting up soon too, then it will be fair time, then..... come back summer !!! LOL

I said in my last posting that I would share the cards that were made with a great bunch of ladies at a Dalton church I will need to make 2 or 3 entries as my computer will only handle 4 up-loads at a time. It was a great day, & I think /hope we will do this again sometime.

I have a sister that has a birthday in a few days & some friends that also have a birthday this month. Hope they like what I made for them. I need to get busy and make another birthday card cause I have another sister that has a birthday the first wk. in March.

This is an easel card I made for a "shoebox" card swap with a great bunch of ladies from Dalton. In my next blog or 2- I will show you the wonderful cards that they came up with for all of us to make. I got the directions from Splitcoast Stampers for this Easel card( another friend also shared the directions with me -thanks Barb). Hope you like my card.....

Here it is Feb3,2011 & we made it through the ice & snow storm without loosing our electricity. On the first & second we had freezing rain the snow on top of that. Schools were closed for 2 days here in Wooster & the g.k. were off today as well. I think they were happy about that. Wonder how happy they will be when they find out they have to make up those days???

A few friends have been asking for some cards, so I better get busy & snap some pictures to put up here.

2 of T.Holtz'12 Days of Christmas

Tim Holtz started on the 1st of Dec. & for 12 days he does a tag & gives great tutorals.
Well I attempted Day 3 & Day 5.
This first picture is from Day 5 - I pretty much followed him, but I didn't do the enameled numbers. Anyway, I was pretty pleased on how this turned out....

This one is from Day 3 - I made a card instead of a tag & I love how it turned out for me. I couldn't get a "nest" made to look right ( probably cause I didn't have the right materials) so I planted the birds feet under the flower.

this 3rd pic. is a close up of the bird & the cool tissue tape flower that Tim shows how to make. Not bad for my first one...

Jumped from April to November. Wow, where did summer go? Here it is fall - soon to be that BRRR- freezing cold with that white stuff on the ground.

Well, I have a sister that has a birthday on Monday( 15th) & she loves to play
bingo. So, of course I made a birthday card for her. Hope she likes her card....

My category was for embellishment storage. I have tried many different things from baskets to boxes to jars and even used a hot wheels storage container. I was not happy with them- always searching. Below you will see what I now use & love it. It sits right beside my desk & I can see what I have from brads to eyelets to flowers to those dew-drops....

It came from the tool section at your local Walmart store. I am sure you can find it at K-Mart or Lowes or just about anywhere that sells tools & such.
You can even mount it on the wall if you would want to.

Took a fun card class yesterday at Cottage Stampers in Hartville OH. Linda taught a little on the "Judith" stamps. When I say a little- she really taught a lot, but there is so much more & those stamps are so versatile that she is going to give us another class so we can learn what all we can do/make with just one stamp. Talk about "thinking outside the box". WOW. That will be a fun class.

I made this for an aunt's 90th birthday. Sorry if it seems a little blurry, but I wanted to make sure you could see the lace over it.

Stamp: B Line Designs

I used Copic Markers to color in the image.

I love the clear cards, but its so hard to get a decent photo ( a photographer, I am not- just ask my friend Betsy). anyway I used the same stamp line & copic markers to color "her". I used stazon-cloudy white on the clear card - which is Kristal Klear by Gary M Burlin & Co.-Cleveland, Oh & get this......

MADE in U.S.A.

can ya tell I love this stamp line & the different ladies? yes, copic markers used again. Also used a cuttlebug folder to emboss the background.

this is just a simple fast card in the shape of a flowerpot. I used versamark to give it a watercolor effect on the back ground, but of course it does not show in the picture.

Goodness, I have not been here since what??? July??? Now I post twice in one day??

Chilly outside- & it got me in the mood to do cards. These cards were done from a class I took at Cottage Stampers in Hartville, Oh a while back & came home & made some more.

Thomas Kinkade & used Flower Soft- but you can't see the dimension

this is a cute little Fish Flower stamp by Impression Obsession with a wiggly eye that you can't see & heat embossed, The white background has a script embossed frm Cuttlebug

Owl is by the same stamp company as the fish flower & has 2 wiggle eyes that you can't see.. The 2-tone background was put thru the Cuttlebug with a distressed embossed folder, then torn and pop-dotted to give it dimension.

My g.d.spent the night & wanted to make a card for her dad. Last Sat. we learned a fun new technique from a friend. So simple/easy & boy she did a good job ( yes, this grandma has "braggin rights". ).

You cover a pc. of cardstock with foil ( we used a cheap brand), then run it thru the cuttlebug ( can use any type of embossing machine) with the "distress" embossing folder.( I am finding that the simple ones like the "distress" or the "swiss dots" turn out the best, altho she did one with "hearts" & a "thanks " that turned out pretty good too. )"Color/pounce" some A.I. on the foil piece. Stamp an image onto clear acetate with Stazon ink.
Put the pieces together for a card. Easy/Peasy.

I think her dad will like his card for Fathers Day...

Mary started a yahoo group called stampingbloggers & posted a question for us to "blog" about; asking us what our favorite stamp company is ( besides the one we sell for, if we are a consultant).

My answer is:

I can't really say I have one or 2 favorites. There are way too many. I am finding out that I like the "vintage " looking stamps -see above photo that my g.d. made. I also love the "collage look, but I can not get "it" to make my own collages, so I find stamps that are allready "collaged". I think in some of my past post I shared a few cards that I did. I also like some of Tim Holtz stamps as some of them are pretty easy for me to put together witthout them looking too sloppy.

Anyway... thats my story(for now)....

Treasure Life....

A few wks. ago my niece & I went to a rubber stamp convention in Akron - oh boy the fun!!!
The learning!!!! Sure hope I can remeber everything!
Saw a lot of different ways to do glitter. I think that is the "in" thing for now.
But what I'm showing is not glitter. Wasn't there a song out a long time ago something about everything is not glitter or was that gold - I think Vince Gill sang it ?- oopps Sorry got side tracked here....hehehe.

The top picture is a result of one of the fun learning techniques, that I actually rememberd!
WOW - Imagine that !! hehehe
Anyway... here are the supplies used & the "de"structions.
Hope you like & if you try it - please share your results..
Supplies:
Glossy cardstock: source unknown
C.T.M.H. dye re-inkers - Baby Pink; Amethyst
C.T.M.H. Black inkpad
C.T.M.H. stampset - Treasure Life
91% Rubbing Alcohol - ( make SURE its 91%)
Black Stazon Ink Pad
I put the alcohol in a little spritzer bottle & spritzed the glossy c.s. then I put some drops of re-inker on a felt pad attached to a wood block & just stomped/twisted my way around till I was done. You can lay it aside to dry or speed it up by using your heat gun.
I used the heat gun for a few seconds, then carefully blotted it with paper towel.
then I stamped my image with black stazon inkpad.
I would not use more then 3 colors if I tried this. You can also use a Krylon Gold inkpen first on the glossy c.s. by putting some random dots/blobs ( I would have- but my pen was empty!)

The first card was a birthday card for my s-i-l (4/16).

The rest of the cards are general "thinking of you".I made them for my daughter, so she can send them to some of her family members on her father's side. They can use a lot of prayers right now.

All cardstock is black & Daisy white from CTMH. Most of the inks are CTMH.

The stamps are way too many to remember where they come from-sorry.

I do know the 2 bottom cards are Tim Holtz Collection.

I also used some Flower Soft on some of the cards. That is a fun new "must have" item!

HAPPY EASTER

This is double sided cardstock that I got from ToyRiffix in Smithville,OH. They are getting a nice variety of rubber stamps/clear stamps, but it is hard on my pocketbook!!
Anyway.... the directions came from the store employee who does demos every month on different card/scrapbooking techniques.
So of course this was a fun/fast little bag to put together for d.d. & g.k. Easter surprise. The rabbit faces were cut from my cricut "Doodlecharms"

CTMH Consultant card swap/shoe box swap ( as some call it)

A fellow consultant is nice enough to include me in her unit meetings. Yesterday 6 of us got together & made cards - sharing great ideas - doing different techniques. While each of us made/stamped our own set of cards; we only designed one card. So in this set of cards - the one ( last card?? if I put them in here right,) I "created" has the scalloped edge, made with our corner-rounder'; basket full of eggs & the cutest little bunny resting in his shell at the bottom of the basket.
It was a fun Spring time theme card party. Too bad the pictures don't do the cards justice to show off all the fun things we did - pop dot - layering - stippling - distressing - wax paper background stamping - fake sewing. Of course the gal who created the "sewing" card - WOW - her "sewing" was so great & neat looking and... it was all done by hand! Me - I cheated - I brought mine home & used a tracing wheel to get that "sewing " look. What can I say!!!

ALL items- Stamp images - everything ( except a ribbon somewhere) are C.T.M.H.

American Made

Yesterday I went & visited my 90 yr. young cousin. She is such a joy to talk with & a wealth of info.
Anyways... many yrs( & I do mean many!!!) ago her & her hubby as a hobby started tanning deer hides & it turned into a business. Well, her hubby is passed on now(quite a few yrs. back) & she kept the business going. Now she has turned it over to her step grandson & family, but she still goes there just about every day for a few hours to work.

So anyways.... she knows my love for hats....yep.... the hat came home with me.
I think I gave her a bit of a fright as I told her I was going to wear it to church today. - but she made me promise that I wouldn't. I kept my promise... but oh my it was hard. hehehe

Then, bless her heart- she gave me a pr. of genuine lambskin slippers. Man-oh-man are they ever soft & keep my feet nice & toasty warm (without socks)
so... everytime I wear either one I will have fond memories of her.
BTW: the hat is genuine deerskin

Snow & Ice Storm 1/28/09

The pictures here were taken down at my in-laws in Coshocton county, the day after the storm ripped thru Ohio.
We were without power for about 5 hours & were lucky as some people in that area went without for over 4 days.
The driveway is circular & 2 teen boys came that eve & dug us out. They did such a fantastic job. Everytime I look at these pictures I thank God for them & their great work.

Its kind of hard to " think spring" when you see all this ice & snow, but someone told me today that its only 47 days away. YAAAAY!!!!!

Time sure is moving fast. Hard to believe January is almost over. I have been spending a lot of time down in Plainfield/West Lafayette/Coshocton area as my M.-I.-L. is not doing well at all & she is in a nursing home- so I have been going there & making sure she eats a little & is not in a lot of pain. Then I also go to help F.-I.L. - make sure he eats something & keep him company, I guess.
All-in-all, it keeps me busy. I stay down there & then come home on the wk-ends.

Not a lot of time to do anything creative & fun. But I "played hookey" from housework this eve. & made a few simple cards.
First 2 pictures are the outside/inside of card. All stamps & materials are C.T.M.H. except for ribbon & I used the Cuttlebug Heart embossing folder on the Bubblegum Cardstock(CTMH)
WOW- I love the January Stamp Of The Month " Moments In Time" from CTMH.
You can make neat/fun little calanders for every month from now all the way thru the year 2015.
You can only get this stampset until the end of Jan. So if you want it- please hurry & let me know.
The quote on the bottom of the first card is from a retired CTMH set, the "I love you" heart & inside is "All My Love" stampset- CTMH

The 3rd picture is a stampset that was available in Dec.2008 called Heartthrob. Again everything is CTMH except for the ribbon.

Just some cold snowy pictures(taken from our storm in March 2008) The g.k. sure enjoyed it; & then some from this summer when my b-i-l & his wife were up from FL. She is the sweetest person, and I just wish I had more time to spend with her & be able to talk more with both of them. At the resturant we met at in Mt. Eaton- we spent a super long time there & they were so good to all of us.

My granddaughter had so much fun making the paper trees. We even did a video tutoral.

Basics is: it takes between 2-3 sheets 12X12 double-sided paper/cardstock- cut 3/4 X3"
Wrap around a pencil to curl it. Start on the botom of a styrofoam tree & use either pins or glue
to attach- working up. Simple-Fun-Fast

Mountains
Oh how I love mountains. Any size. I have been to W.V. many times & the mountains there are great. New River Gorge is super to see. I will have to try to find my pics. of that to post sometime. Soon.
Maybe, I need to make a visit there this summer to see the mountains & visit a few friends- Barb & Geraldine- if they have the time.

What do you get if you mix a hillbilly with a buckeye? Answer: Buckabilly. hehe
Thats what a good friend of mine used to call me. Dana has been in heaven now for 7 years (12/01/2001 )

Speaking of mountains.......

In April/May 2006 I was in Las Vegas then went to Ogden, UT. to a friend's (??) for a wk. What fun- what awesome GIANT mountains.

B was a friend or so a few of us thought. We were in an on-line craft group & for some reason her granddaughter booted us all ( most of us) out. Granddaughter says " Stop talking to soNso" & Granny does- no reason or nothing.
T & I were talking the other day(she was from that group too, that got "booted") & we couldn't figure out how to explain to someone about being "shunned" & not understand/know the reason why. And how sad !! Time to turn the page...

Anyway... I do have a few great pictures & some wonderful memories of that time, & still some wonderful close friendships from that time/place with Nana,Terry,Barb,Speedy & Robin & oh dear- I dare not forget Harley!!& Heidi ( who is still doing great)
ok... enough on this trip down memory lane....

Happy Thanksgiving...

It was a good fun relaxing sort of day at my daughters with the grandkids. Our cousin Julie came over to visit for a bit & have dessert with us. This is the first year for her with out her mom & I know it was very hard on her. She is such a sweet young lady.

We played our "I am thankful for A - B - C game" where we go through the alphabet stating what we are thankful for.

That reminded C.J. of a book that she made when she was in 1st. grade, where all the kids wrote what they were thankful for & the teacher was kind enough to have it put into a hard-back book. We had fun reading this - especially when we got to the boy who said he was thankful for his brain....

Oh my, we laughed so hard, that tears were pouring down our faces.

Now, remember this was written by a 6/7 year old child. He would now have to be 12 maybe 13 & I wonder if he still has the book & if his family are teasing him over this. As I drove home, I thought of what he wrote & started to laugh all over again.

So with this thanksgiving- be thankful for your brain.........

Well, another first for me.. I tried digi scrapping. This was simple with a pre-made page, all I had to do was find the pictures & add them. Then I added some paw-prints. Easy-Peasy.

Now, I think... I want to try this some more before I totally give up on it, but... I think for me- I prefer making my lay-outs the "old-fashioned" way. I do like this "style" so, I might have to try it with some real c.s. & embellies.

2 girls & card making

Carrie left Friday after work for W.V. for the wk-end. AJ spent the night with his friend & then with his dad.

That left CJ with me. On Saturday her friend came over & spent the night. They seemed to have fun- they made some Christmas cards. No help from me except to explain how to apply the fun flock & glitter. Glitter everywhere.hehehe. Too bad it does not show well in the photos.
So, that left me to work on my cards. Maybe later I will take pics of mine & share - but then again maybe I won't as I have a few "secret sisters" & jeepers, if I show what I made- well, then it won't be such a secret any more, now will it?

The first picture is of her friend on the left & CJ on the right. 2nd. photo is her friends cards & last pic. is CJ's cards.

I think they did a fantastic job. Think they are trying to show me up?????? YEP!!!!

Some stamps are CTMH. The owl -Is it too late to be good? stamp - I just got is from Great Impression & soon to be one of my faves.

Applying stamped images to candles is a fun & cheap gift to give. I found this picture of some candles I did a few years back. Most of the images are C.T.M.H. and I am thinking I should do some more this year for gifts. Someone somewhere gave instructions for putting photos on candles- I might like to give that try.

I am off to enjoy this beautiful warm fall day. From what I hear it is the last warm day we will be having.

Early Morning sun rise --2 days in a row about 3 wks. back, on my way to my daughters house -early in the morning- I got to see a beautiful sunrise one morning & the next another beautiful sky.
It made me think of some of the wonderful paintings & photos I have seen - but nothing beats seeing the "real" thing !!

Another amazing thing about this is... I took these 2 photos & they came out pretty decent.

Shocking - I know !!!! hehehe

Well, if you have not voted early- then please do so tomorrow. Search your heart & vote for the ones that you feel will do the best job.

Also - remember to pray for all - even the ones you do not like or wish to be in office.

Cuttlebug card using CTMH cardstock- can't remember where the brad or flower are from. It was fun & fast to make.

Today is the last day of October.

Temps were in the 30's the beginning of the wk & we had our first snowfall on Tue. morn. It covered the ground, but by afternoon - it was gone & stayed cold & wet all day. Now today its up into the 60's & boy am loving it. I will enjoy it while I can as I know it will not last.

Guess I better go as our neighborhood will have little ghosts & witches, football stars, princess & who knows what/who else walking the streets around here ringing the doorbell(if we have our porch light) on for a treat. My gk usually go in the neighborhood which I enjoyed walking with them, but this year they are going to a praise & worship song fest at their church. So, guess I will be the one at the house passing out the candy.

Time sure goes fast. Until the next time...

"Green Card"

Bet you didn' know I needed a "green card" did you? Yep, I did & my good buddy Terry designed & sent it to me.

She said she was making notecards & thought of me when she made the turtle.

I am not "into" Halloween but I saw some cute cards & items awhile back from Rachelle ( you can go to her blog over on the side here). This was inspired by her & "coppied" completely. I used CTMH's Creme Brulee & Black inks. Black , white daisy cardstock. stampsets by CTMH used were: Friendship alphabet small ( BOO ) Happy Haunting, Halloween Dingbats. other: "google" eyes. If I have time to make her "Frankie" card - both cards will go to my grandkids, - if not then I guess I will send out a belated RAK to someone. Hope you like this if you are reading this.

Resting up from Friday & Saturday. No school for g.k. on Friday so they were here all day. They did real good. It was a little 'nippy' out, but they had fun gathering some leaves & covering each other up, then "scaring" me by jumping out of the pile - hehehe. Of course A.J. found a new use for the snow shovel. Got some great pics- can't wait to do some lay-out pics with the photos, but first will share a few pictures of their fun day.

Yesterday was a fun-filled & interesting day. I went to Hartville to my friend's house & another friend that lives near there in Canton came over we did some rubberstamping - started to work on our Christmas cards. We "broke" for lunch. Went to Hartville Kitchen but the line & wait was too long, or so we thought at the time, so we went to the other side of town. WHOA- what a mistake. The service was horrrible. It took us over 2 hours to be waited on, get our food, then get my bill corrected.Ms.P. talked very nice to the owner about the problem- but don't think it did any good. But hey- we did have fun, the food was o.k. & we learned- not to go there again. Something we can remember & laugh about & joke about now, that it's over with.

This card that I did, (thanks to C.G. a fellow consultant for the idea)... Everything is C.T.M.H.

This card is a technique that I learned from the Adventures In Stamping convention that my niece & I went to a few wk. back. It was so much fun to do & of course the photo does not capture it the way it should.

Wow- can't believe I am posting again - so soon. At least I did not wait a year between my first post & this. Always something new to learn.
I was surprised & so happy to see all my wonderful first comments - thanks !!

remember that childhood song? It was dreary & raining out this forenoon &I thought of it & wonder how many kids in this day know it & sing it. Something to ask my g.k. this eve.
They will be spending the night here because they have no school tomorrow ( teacher's workshop or something like that). I just might be singing that song tomorrow.

At our county fair this fall in Sept. in the Home Ec. building the 2 pictures I am showing here - the young person won first place. It was from the 9th-12th grade age bracket. But the pictures I took- do not do this justice.
Look as close as you can at all the details- It is so amamzing & just blew me away.If that young person continues & persues the field of art - can you just imagine all the talent that young one will have as an adult? WOWZERS....

YIKES !!!

I started this blog way over a year ago, and I am just now getting ready to "write" in it.
But jeepers, I have no idea at all of what to say - what not to say.

I wish I was artistic & had a "way" with words like some do that I read, so in comparison- mine will be very boring.
Will I write in here every day- I doubt it.

Last few days have been beautiful & warm with all the rich vibrant fall colors. Today is a little rainy & cooler out. So not looking forward to winter with all the super-cold temps.
So now- I think I will go & see if I can make something ( need to get busy on my Christmas cards)
